2020 NPLW Player Announcement
Capalaba is excited to announce the signing of Kaitlyn Torpey for the 2020 NPL Women's Season.
An established player at just 20 years of age, Torpey has been with with Brisbane Roar’s W-League team for the last four seasons, finding her way through the NTC and Roar systems . She earned her Roar debut at just 16 years, playing alongside a host of champions and current and former Matildas.
Torpey first came to prominence in the 2016 NTC Championships in Canberra, having an outstanding tournament and gaining selection in the All-Stars Team of the Championships.
Fresh from her first senior campaign with the Roar, Kaitlyn backed up with selection in the Young Matildas squad for the 2017 AFC U19 Championship in China, where the team ended up finishing fourth.
Her career began in 2009, playing for local club, Olympic FC. In 2011, Kaitlyn was selected and joined Women's National Premier League outfit, Central Brisbane FC. and played in their NPL system for the next three years, receiving the golden boot award twice and representing Queensland three times in that period.
In 2014, she was selected into Queensland Academy of Sports U17’s team, and subsequently attended the U20’s National Training Camp (NTC) from 2014 to 2016 representing Queensland at the annual Championships.
Although these days, Torpey is best known as a defender, she has the skill set and ability to play in both the backs and forwards. On securing Torpey’s signature, Skie Hanofin remarked “Kaitlyn is an extremely talented right back or right winger, who has all the attributes and experience that we need. this league. She is going to prove to be a valuable asset for us moving forward in this league”,
