Female Football Week - Spotlight on Kim Miles

Kim has been significant part of Capalaba FC for almost two decades and has had many roles with the Club over this time, from volunteer to senior chairperson, to Club Secretary, to Club President to her current role as our Football Queensland administrator and NPLW Opens Team Manager

A large part of today’s success can be put down to Kim and her dedication and commitment to the Club and football in the Redlands area. From humble beginnings as a small community football club, struggling with survival and relevancy, to now, an end to end football club catering for all ages and abilities, Kim has overseen or been intrinsically involved with just about everything the Club has achieved.

When the drive to establish a culture of female football at the Club became obvious and apparent, Kim and the Committee of the day provided the much-needed support and resources for the establishment of our women’s program. This ultimately led to the 2018 acceptance of Capalaba FC into the state level National Premier Leagues competition for Women, a monumental shift for the Club.

At the time of accepting the offer from Football Queensland to compete at this elite level, Kim, as Secretary stated “This achievement belongs to every player, coach, volunteer and member of the club. Right from the people in the committee meeting room to the Squirts who take the field every Saturday morning"

Kim has also been ever present in the establishment of charitable events, #sistaswalkinthewall and Capalaba FC’s annual “Pink Weekend”, events chartered with raising much needed funds for a range of cancer charities.

In 2016, Football Brisbane awarded Kim the “Volunteer of the Year” for services to football in the Brisbane area, whilst in 2018 Capalaba FC awarded Kim with their annual “Clubman of the Year” award which was rebranded as “The Kim Miles, Clubman of the Year” in recognition of Kim’s selfless and tireless contributions over the years. Further recognition came in 2019 with the Courier-Mail listing Kim as one of the Redlands Coast’s most influential persons in sport – a worthy recognition.

During Female Football week, we salute you Kim and thank you for driving and pushing for greater female involvement in the Club at all levels and, importantly, for your contribution to making Capalaba FC the leading female football Club in the region, if not all of SEQ.
