2020 NPLW Player Announcement
Capalaba FC is excited to announce the addition of another quality marquee player to its 2020 NPLW squad.
Billie Murphy joins Capalaba FC’s top squad for season 2020, after spending the previous two seasons at Souths United.
Billie comes to the Club with an impressive CV of football education and achievement across her career to date. From age 10, Billie was a part of the Arsenal Centre of Excellence until she was selected in the Gunners top squad at the age of 16. Between the ages of 16 and 18, she was Captain of the Reserve squad, whilst making appearances in the first team for Cup and League competitions.
After moving to Leeds in 2011 to further her education, Billie joined Leeds United and played for the next two years in the Women’s Premier League. Thereafter, a move to Everton FC in 2013 beckoned and a chance to play in the FA Women's Super League, the top tier of football in the UK. During her stint at the Toffees, Billie had the pleasure of playing an FA Cup Final in front of 30,000 fans against her old club, Arsenal.
A distinguished junior representative career was topped off with selection in the under 15, under 17 and under 19 England teams for the European Championships, as well as winning Gold for Great Britain at the World University Games in 2013.
An accomplished goal scorer in the Queensland NPLW, with 20 goals over two seasons, which is a great achievement from the number 6 role! Billie will be a welcome addition to the Bulldogs squad for 2020.
Coach Skie Hanifin stated “Billie will be massive for Capalaba FC and the playing group this coming season. A player with the credentials and experience of Billie is huge for our squad, a class defensive player who can score goals with a massive engine and a football brain to match.”
