Capalaba FC Announce NPLW Senior Coaches
Hot off completing a successful season, Capalaba Football Club is excited to announce the senior coaching structure for 2018 as the Bulldogs move into the Playstation 4 National Premier League Women Queensland competition.
Capalaba FC Executive Committee appointed Steve Duncan as NPLW Technical Director. One of Steve’s first tasks was to then interview and appoint coaches for the senior side. Steve has named Robert Gibson as Head Coach and Shaun McAney as Assistant Coach for the 2018 season.
As Technical Director Steve Duncan will oversee the NPLW structure which includes Under 13, Under 15 and Under 17 girls along with the senior women side. Steve joined Capalaba FC for the 2017 season taking on the role of Director of Coaching. Steve has accumulated more than 11 years experience coaching in women’s football, juniors and seniors, holding a Youth & Senior C Licence and working towards a B Licence in 2018.
“It has been a pleasure to be involved with Capalaba FC this season and I’m excited to lead this next phase of development for female football at the club. With people like Robert and Shaun driving the direction of growth and the quality of commitment we have from our coaches, we are certainly creating something special for female footballers in our region.” Duncan said.
Robert Gibson and Shaun McAney have been the backbone of the Women’s side of the club for many years and together orchestrated a stellar 2017 season in the Brisbane Women’s Premier League. The Premier side finished Runner-up both in the league and grand final while the reserves finished Champions and Grand Final Winners, undefeated.
Gibson is a lifelong Bulldog and setup the first junior girls team 10 years ago. He worked tirelessly both on the pitch and in the back office to lead the way in building the club to what it is today. He is working towards his C Licence and is looking to build on recent success albeit at the higher level.
“Excited about taking the step up into the National Premier Leagues and looking forward to working with the squad as they challenge themselves in the competition.”
Shaun McAney has been coaching women’s football since 2006 and in 2013 returned to Capalaba who he had played youth football for to coach a senior women side winning the premiership in his first year. Shaun has been involved in the BWPL side since joining in 2015 and coached this Reserves side through their undefeated season in 2017. Shaun holds a Senior Licence under the previous system and is working towards his C Licence this season.
Players wishing to be considered for PlayStation 4 National Premier Leagues Squads will be asked to register their details here. The club’s NPLW Technical Director and coaching staff will initially screen the player expression of interests and contact players directly with confirmation of player identification dates.
